Designed and handcrafted by a local lady Mildred McClain (from Point Marion) over a period of years in the late 1970's. This was the last of the number of quilts she made in her lifetime. This specific one, however was the only queen-sized quilt she ever pieced but wasn't able to finish before she passed away. The quilt has been kept from exposure to sunlight and damage, stored for the last 45 years.
After some evaluation of the quilt by expert quilters, it was deteremined that this quilt would benefit by being machine quilted. This process stregthens the quilt top and provides stability. Janet Henshawe, Longarm Quilting and Design of Connellsville, finished the quilt. The quilt measures 85x95 inches, with no individual square longer than 1 inch. Beautiful!
